Community Guidelines

Version 2026-10-26 · Last updated:

The English text of this page. Persian is the primary published version; if the two differ, the English version prevails.

PersianChords.com is a chords bank built by players, for players. These guidelines keep it useful, friendly and safe. They apply to everything you add: comments, votes, feedback, requests, songs, versions, edits and names.

The guidelines are part of the terms of use (/terms). We enforce them at our discretion. We may also act on content or behaviour they don't list when we believe it harms the site or its users.

The short version

  1. Be kind and respectful.
  2. Keep it about the music.
  3. Share chords you worked out yourself.
  4. Vote honestly.
  5. Keep everyone's personal information private, including your own.
  6. No ads, no links, no spam.

1. Be respectful

  • Disagree with chords, not with people. "The chorus is Em, not G" helps; "you can't play" doesn't.
  • No insults, mockery, harassment or threats.
  • No hate. Nothing that attacks people for their ethnicity, nationality, language or dialect, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
  • Respect artists too. Criticism of a song or a version is fine; personal attacks on singers or musicians are not.

2. Keep it about the music

  • Comments are for the chords, the playing, the song and the version:
    • corrections;
    • easier fingerings;
    • strumming tips;
    • capo suggestions;
    • questions about a hard passage.
  • Political, religious and ethnic debates are off-topic here and will be removed, whatever the side. This protects everyone, including people reading from places where such talk is dangerous.
  • No sexual content, and nothing that encourages violence or illegal acts.

3. Share your own work

  • Add chords you worked out yourself, or that you otherwise have the right to share. Don't copy chord sheets from other websites, books or apps.
  • Don't add credits, source names, advertising or links inside song text. The only credit is the optional one shown next to your contribution.
  • Lyrics should match what is sung. Write Persian with Persian letters (ی and ک, not ي and ك).
  • A new version should really be different: a different arrangement, an easier version, or a live performance.
  • If a rights holder asks us to remove something, we follow the takedown process in the terms (/terms, section 11).

4. Vote honestly

  • Vote on versions you actually played or checked.
  • One account per person. Using extra accounts, asking friends to vote together, or trading votes is manipulation. Those votes are removed, and the accounts can be closed.

5. Protect privacy

  • Never post anyone's personal information: phone numbers, addresses, emails, ID numbers, workplaces, or photos of people.
  • Think before sharing your own. Your display name is public, and comments can appear in search engines. Use a name that doesn't reveal who you are if you prefer.
  • Don't pretend to be someone else, including an artist or the site's team.

6. No ads, links or spam

  • No advertising, selling or self-promotion, including lessons, channels and pages. Links are not accepted in comments, requests or songs.
  • No repeated, meaningless or machine-made posts.

7. Requests

  • Search before you request a song. If it isn't in the bank, request it with «درخواست آهنگ».

8. Reporting

  • To report a problem with a song, use «گزارش اصلاح» on its page. You don't need an account to report.
  • Reports are reviewed by moderators. A report never removes anything by itself.
  • The person you report never learns who reported them.
  • Report honestly. Reporting to silence someone you disagree with is itself misuse.

9. What happens when guidelines are broken

We decide what to do, at our discretion and without having to give reasons. The steps we may take include:

  • removing or hiding the content;
  • a warning in your account notifications;
  • limits or a temporary suspension: no posting for a period;
  • closing the account.

We often start with a lighter step, but we don't have to. Serious breaches usually close the account straight away:

  • threats;
  • sharing someone's personal information;
  • sexual content involving minors;
  • organized vote manipulation;
  • repeated rights infringement.

If you think a decision was wrong, you can write to contact@persianchords.com. We may look at it again, but we don't have to change it.

10. Limits

These keep the site fair and reviewable. They may change.
